So cody had the awesome idea to go after Thaegan’s treasure… which is buried under the empire in my crazy dungeon hahahaha!!!! so you guys entered the prison on level 1-1 and found some sleeping gnomes. 6 seconds later one was chopped in half by cody and the other flamethrowered by samir. win. Before continuing they decided to droop the gnome remains in a hole in the ground, which then started following them bwahahaha and snuggled up to cody as he slept. You ran into some crazy demons and other creatures including a Gauth beholder. After taking an extended break, they continued into a room that had blood stains trailing from it. They found four gnomes controlling mechanical statues. They dispatched the gnomes and used the statues controls to try to kill each others statues haha. THE HOLE WILL GET YOU NEXT TIME!!!! gg

session four

As you were exploring the house, you see that it has transformed from the cosy little cottage you thought it was, to a horrible, stinky, disgusting rock hut. In the kitchen you find bones picked clean, and broken shackles attached to the wall, with a hard blanket underneath them. The little house had very little in it besides the chest and bones. Suddenly, a tiefling appears in the entrance of the kitchen. (he was a Jin and Jods new slave, and since they were killed, he escaped from the shackles and reclaimed his gear that they had taken off him) Cody feels the dwarf tap on his back.(PI sets him down) The dwarf looks confused for a moment, then his eyes go wide, seeing where he is at and makes a move to bolt for the door. (PI) He bends over the ground and starts to write in the dirt. “My name is Manus. When thaegan came to my land, she took my peoples voices. Now we cannot speak.” he looked at you intently and asked “whom do you serve?”and drew two marks on the floor V and (,””). Since you seem to know neither, i will explain. The marking of the hand is the shadow lords making. The V is a freedom mark, secretly used between those who resist the tyranny of the shadow lord. By it we can recognize friends from enemies.(PI) “I have been a prisoner of Jin and Jod for five long years. I had been traveling back to my home when i was lured from the path by the tempting scent of the sweet plumb bushes, and had fallen into the quicksand and had been captured. I was forced to work like a slave, beaten, starved, and treated with terrible cruelty. Tied to the kitchen wall, i had been forced to watch helplessly as they trapped, killed, and ate victim after helpless victim. Finally, I had managed to escape, but on my way back home i was captured by the goblins, and forced to go with them, until they circled back around on patrol and could drop me back off with Jin and Jod.” (PI) He shows them the secret way of getting thru the quicksand on the stones. As you travel, and take brief breaks, he scribbles in the dirt and tells you about the fall of the Empire, since you are new to this land. “As the undead armies marched on the capital, a large dragon, bigger than any other, as my ancestors told it, flew into the highest tower and dropped off its rider. Soon after, the rider flew off toward the Lake of tears. They discovered the stone gone, and believed that the shadow lord had given it to the evil sorceress Thaegan.” “I see you know much.” said a mocking voice from the shadows. “I felt the deaths of my children, you know.” said the silken voice as the figure emerged into visible half- light. She had long red hair and was strikingly beautiful, but something about her aura seemed twisted. “I felt their pain, their suffering as u killed them. No need for alarm though, i won’t harm you… directly anyway..” she let out a silken laugh that seemed to echo around the forest as she sank back into the shadows. After defeating the marauders, josh’s stone goes off very insistently, and you hear “Can’t just roll over and die eh?” from behind you you hear “saw what you did to my chums, couple days back. Down right savage of you.” a voice from the side says “Yeah now ur gonna get it!” “I must go back to my home town, Raladin now. Thank you for rescuing me. If you would like to come to relax for a night or two, you are most welcome to do so. But to warn you, the town is very close to the lake of tears, and since thaegan heard us speaking of it, she will no doubt be very attentive about protecting the stone.” When they get to the city A pebbled path ran down from the opening to a beautiful village of small, round homes, workshops, and halls, all simply but craftily made of curved, baked earth bricks. The buildings surrounded a square, paved with large, flat stones. In the center of the square a fountain splashed. But there were no lights on in the houses of Raladin. Spiders had spun thick webs over he windows. The doors hung open, creaking as they swung to and fro in the gentle breeze. And there was no other movement. None at all. He leads you to the fountain and picks up a long flute, wedged between a paving stone and the fountain edge. He picked it up and played a long, sorrowful melody. As he finished, one of the huge paving stones started to tilt and move aside noiselessly. Several dwarves spilled out, all running hurriedly toward Manus. They reached out and hugged him and cried in joy and relief. As they start walking with manus back underground, he beckons for you guys to follow. (PI) As you go further underground, you enter a large cavern filled with hundreds of dwarves. You rest for several days underground with the dwarves, who don’t have much but share it very generously, including a complimentary item chest, recovered from some gnomes that they had killed not a couple days before you arrived. As usual you choose a single item or item upgrade of your level or lower, and an enchantment chest pops out. They tell you all about the demon army that thaegan is raising for her master, and how she has spawned many children so that she could rely on them to do the dirty job of feeding and raising her army. Every now and then, the older daemons, which are strong enough to journey in the wild in packs, venture into the city above and make quite the ruckus tearing up and eating any poor victim they caught, usually gnomes. On the last day you announce that you are heading off. They ask you where you could possibly want to go. (If they say lake of tears, they will freak out and talk about soldeen) Soldeen, manus tells u, is the guardian of the lake of tears while Thaegan is not there. Manus offers to lead you to the Lake. Manus leads you out of the city, and south west. You walk for a good part of the day, the road being empty of all life, and the usual sounds of the forest starting to decay into nothing, except for strange, unidentifiable noises in the bush. As you walk down the path and round a curve in the road, you see 6 figures standing in the middle of the road. “She said they’d come this way! There they are! get em!” sounded a deep voice from one of the figures. As you kill the last of either hot or tot, they say, “Fool, this matters not… cough cough my mother has sent out such a high bounty on your heads that not even your petty resistance friends will remain loyal to you for long. You… are dead men… cough cough (dies).” As night starts to descend you make camp. The next day, you travel a bit more. By mid-afternoon, the way had grown rough and the hills more rugged. Dead trees held bleached, white branches up to the pale sky. The grass crackled under the your feet, and the low growing bushes were dusty dry. Your surroundings are dead still, except for the scuttlings in the bushes, and rustlings in dark holes beneath the tree roots, but you saw no living creature. As the sun sank lower into the sky, Manus began to walk more and more slowly, his feet dragging as though he was forcing them to move. You trudge behind him in single file, (i’m assuming?) watching the ground which had become more treacherous, filled with cracks and holes, and littered with stones. Finally, you come upon a place where the bases of two steep, rocky hills met, making a narrow V shape. Through the gap you can see the red stained sky and the fiery ball of the setting sun, glowing like a danger sign. The dwarf stumbled to a stop and leaned against one of the rocks. His skin was as grey as dust, his small black eyes were blank with fear. (he doesn’t leave though) “You have saved me twice from death, my life is yours, I will follow you anywhere.” He suddenly took off, up into the gap between the rocks. Not far below you, is a murky lake ringed by banks of thick, grey mud riddled with what looked like worm holes. In the lakes center, a slimy rock oozed water which dripped ceaselessly into the pool, causing slow, oily ripples to creep across its surface. Twisted, barren peaks of clay rose beyond the lake like haunted things. There is not one green, growing thing to be seen. There was no sound but the dripping water and the faint, squelching movements of mud. there were no smells but damp and decay. It is a place of bitterness, ugliness, misery, and death. Manus bent down and scribbled something in the dirt and pointed at the lake. “D’Or.” It read. This is what Thaegan had done to the grand city of D’Or that you read about in Jane’s diary. (do u go down to the lake?) You scramble down the last of the rocks and reach the mud that circled the lake. You sink to your ankles in the fine, grey ooze, but that was all. As soon as your feet touch the mud bank, cody feels the belt start to warm. Your ankles start to itch as you stand in the mud, and as you absent-mindedly reach down to scratch it, your fingers touch something that feels like slimy jelly. You look down to discover, to your horror, your ankles are covered with huge pale worms. Even as you hurriedly start removing them from your skin, they start to swell and darken as they suck your blood. Suddenly, the mud was alive with slimy things, twisting, creeping, and slithering out of hiding. As you try to retreat, thousands of the things crawl all over you, trying to find warm, bare pieces of flesh to feed on. Then, abruptly, as though on some sort of signal, the creatures froze. By the hundreds, they began dropping to the ground and burrowing beneath the surface of the mud. In moments, they had all disappeared. It was then that you notice a trail of bubbles moving from the center of the lake towards you. Moving fast. The oily water beside you heaved and a huge, hideous creature rose from the depths. Slime dripped from its skin. Its gaping mouth, lined with needle-sharp teeth, swirled with water, worms, and mud. Wicked spines sprouted, gleaming, from its back and sides and sprang like narrow spears from the flesh under its eyes, which burned with ravenous, endless hunger. It lunged for you with a hissing roar, throwing its body onto the shore. You know that this, is the monster Soldeen. Soldeen lets out a roar and plunged back into the depths from whence it came. Darkness started to set in. As you stand on the shore, Manus starts doing a victory dance, and starts to play his flute. The bubbles returned, and slowly, very slowly as if mesmerized, soldeen emerged from the oily water, mud and grubs pouring off his monstrous back. He did not attack though, he instead watched, waiting. “DO NOT MOVE!” the hollow, growling command lashed out at you. “PLAY!” he ordered. Manus forced his lips and fingers to move. At last the music began again, hesitating and feeble at first, but gaining in strength. Soldeen’s eyes seemed to be looking off into a far away place, but suddenly snapped back. “why have you come to this place? Do not try to lie, for i will know, and kill you.” The music fluttered and stopped as if manus had lost his breath. “PLAY!” roared soldeen. “I know of the stone… I knew that one day, someone would seek it.. It is in my keeping, my prize-the only thing in this bitter and lonely place that comforts me in my misery. Do you think that i would let you take it, with nothing in return?” “I will give you the stone in return for- a companion.” He turned his great head to look at Manus.” “Give the little man to me,” hissed solldeen. “I like his face, and the music he makes. He will come into the lake with me and sit upon the weeping stone. He will play to me through endless days, the lonely nights. He will ease my pain, for as long as he lives.” Manus took a shaky step forward and held his chin high. (if you let him he gets on soldeen to retrieve the stone from the weeping rock, but as he gets there Thaegan show up) (if not see below) “GIVE HIM TO ME OR YOU WILL DIE!” roared soldeen as it lunged forward to attack. Soldeen stopped fighting and looked up into the sky. At that moment, the sky seemed to split open with a jagged streak of light. With a fearful, rushing sound, a cloud of foul-smelling, yellow smoke belched through the crack, churning the lake to mud and filling the air above it with thick, choking fumes. And in the midst of the smoke, hovering above the water, was a towering beautiful figure, with shining red hair. It was as if the whole lake, the creatures, and even the rocks seemed to shrink back and tremble. “You shall never have it!” cried Thaegan, her voice crackling with fury. “You, who have dared to enter my lands! You, who have freed one of my minions! You, who have killed four of my children and mocked my power! I have followed you. I have smelt you out. Now, you will feel my revenge!!!” Half way through encounter… “You are to become part of my creation. Soon you will forget everything you have ever held dear. Sick with loathing at your own ugliness, feeding on worms in the cold and the dark, you will creep into the ooze and slime with Soldeen, Forever! HAHAHAHA!” continue encounter. after encounter The sorceress shrieked in rage, shock, and pain, and started slowly dropping to the mud. Her eyes widened, unbelieving. Her body shuddered and writhed and turned as yellow as the smoke that still hung about her. Her face became a hideous blur, melting and re-forming before your eyes. And then, with a high, whistling hiss, she began to shrivel, to crumple, to collapse in upon herself like a rotting fruit left in the sun. You hear Soldeen bellowing in the lake behind you, crying out in either triumph or terror. Then, with a low terrifying rumble, the earth began to shudder and heave. Icy waves pounded on the shore as the water of the lake swelled and crashed, and receded at the same time. The roar of the lake sucking in on itself was deafening. Then suddenly, everything stilled. It was if the earth had caught its breath. Waiting… The tempest had almost emptied the lake. Now it was just a broad sweep of shallow water gleaming in the moonlight. A multitude of slimy creatures lay stranded in heaps around the edges, and along its flattened banks. Soldeen was in the center, by the weeping rock. He was motionless, his head upraised. He was staring at the moon as though he had never seen it before. As you watch, Soldeen let out a long sigh, and vanished. Standing in his place was a short, golden dwarf with a mane of tawny hair. The tall weeping rock quivered, and cracked from top to bottom. The two halves crumbled away in a cloud of fine, glittering dust. A woman stepped from the shining cloud. She was golden like the man, but her hair was black as night. In her hand, held high, was a huge, shining silver gem. The man and woman joined hands and together began to walk towards you. As you look around, the earth started to dry and bloom with grass and flowers under your feet. Color and life sprang from the man and woman, carpeting their footsteps and spreading outward as far as the eye could see. All around the margins of the lake, creatures were dissolving and reforming. Golden people were rising from the ground, dazed from their long sleep, murmuring, weeping, and laughing. Birds were fluffing their feathers and taking flight, singing their joy. The man who had been Soldeen, and the woman who had shared his long, long suffering stood before you now. “By the gods…” said Manus, with his voice. “Of course! “He exclaimed. With Thaegan dead, all of her spells have been undone! The people of Raladin and D’Or will not be the only ones in these parts with reason to be grateful to your heroism!” Soldeen approached. “We met before as enemies, now at last, we meet as friends. My name is Nanion, this is my lady Ethena. We are the Chiefs of D’Or, and we owe you our freedom.” The woman smiled. “I think you have need of this.” She held out her hand, and balanced in the palm was the Diamond, shimmering brilliantly. A clamor of shouting and singing arose from the valley. The people had seen Nanion and Ethena from afar and were running towards them. Ethena smiled. “Stay with us a while, here you can rest, and feast, and be at peace. Here you can regain your strength for the journey ahead.”

Session three wierd post anomalies

sorry about that… here’s the first thing it messed up… As you continue down the road you notice an overturned wagon on the side of the road with several dead bodies, rotted skeletons scattered about. (PI inspect bodies and wagon) You notice one of the skeletons is clutching a small book. (PI) The leather bound cover reads, “Jane’s Diary”. (PI) You open the book and find that most of the pages have rotted away rendering it almost unreadable. The last entry though, can almost be made out. “Thaegan hates anything that is alive, beautiful, and free. She is a monster. There once was a town in the land around the Lake of Tears, called D’Or. A town like a garden, with golden towers, happy people, and lush flowers and trees. It was a settlement for the dwarves in our tribes land, as they were the finest builders. They built us grand buildings… Ah were they grand… at a price of course… Now it is a dead, sad place… As will be all the land when Thaegan and her children have finished their evil work.” Roll perception. You notice a rustling of the trees. (highest roller;carole)- You bend low to the ground and hear and feel a light vibration. You know that enemies are coming. A lot of them, probably some of the evil monsters that consisted the army that surrounded the keep. Only this time, you have no help. You know that you need to get away, and fast. You realize that there are only 2 options, to run, or to hide in the surrounding trees. If hide in trees- As you hide in the trees you see many goblins and hobgoblins, and their formidable looking commanders enter the clearing. To your despair, you see them drop their equipment on the ground to rest. More and more spilled in, soon it was crowded, filling the clearing with harsh voices and evil laughter. You estimate around 70 to 100 of them. You notice the guards have a prisoner. The captive is a dwarf, short, broad, and haggard- looking. He wore a tight leather collar around his neck, with a fastening for a chain or rope dangling from it. He looked exhausted, and the chains that weighed down on his wrists and ankles had made raw marks on his skin. As you sit in the trees, waiting for their rest to be over, night starts to fall. As day drains away, their drunken laughter grows louder. As they feast and drink, the dwarf looks longingly at the food scattered across the grass, waisted. A goblin smiles and turns to him, “here have this.” he holds out a greasy half eaten chicken leg. As the dwarf leans in to receive it tho, he bumps it on the dwarves nose. Goblins all around laugh and jeer at him as the goblin pulls away and finishes the meat. Finally, in the middle of the night it is safe to come down from the trees, as all the enemies are asleep, and have failed to post a guard, thinking themselves safe in their land. Non combat encounter The second anomaly was supposed to say….As you lay all together on a slick, moss covered stone floor. The putrid smell of rotten meat fills your nostrils. (PI torches)(ROLL PERCEPTION 7) You see rotten skeletons all around you, and that you are in a large room with a dark door frame at the other side of the room. You hear noises. A slight rustle, then the sound of many things approaching through the door. Suddenly, vicious howls sound, like a bunch of crazy beasts about to unleash their fury, and creatures come streaming through the door at you. Encounter

Session three

As you hurry down a side corridor, cody points out the next turn, indicated on the map. You are now very low in the keep, having walked down cold dark passages and stairs for the last several hours. Finally, you reach the room where the map shows it leading to the tunnel to reach the outside. The room has little furnishings, just a rug and several book cases. (roll perception) Carole rolled a natural 20 and knew something was under the rug. As you remove the rug, you find a trap door that leads downwards. (PI) You find yourself in a dark, cave-like passageway. The smell of built up moisture, and bat feces hangs heavy in the air. As you travel onward, you see a dim light in the distance. “Mehehehe!” a high pitched laughter echoes around the cave passage way. Encounter 4 Gnomes As the last gnome is slaughtered a chest appears next to its body. “Precious…” it whispers with its last breath. Wondrous Item Chest After the encounter you free yourself of the blood slick cave and emerge into the forest. You confer where to head off to next, which they decided to try to head along the coast toward the Empire. First things first, you have to get out of this enemy ridden forest, and start walking North-West. After hours of walking you find a decent trail that looks like it would be faster to walk on, and lead you out of the forest. ENCOUNTER!!!!!!!!!! Goblins NONCOMBAT ENCOUNTER “Very well.” The huge man looked down at his feet. A row of sticks lay there in the dust. I I I I I I I I I I I. “Change eleven to nine, without removing any sticks.” He said harshly. (answer spelling out NINE, but instead they answered it by forming IX with the sticks) He steps aside. “Very good,” said the man, with no change of tone. “You may pass.” He waits until you are on the land on the opposing side of the bridge, and moves to block the path again. Jarrett said something. “you spoke, so your question is next. What is it that a beggar has, that a rich man needs, and that the dead eat?” (Answer- Nothing) “Very good, you may pass.” “here is the last question,” rasped the man with golden eyes. “It is long, so to be fair, i will ask it twice. Listen well.” This was josh’s question. “Thaegan gulps her favorite food In her cave with all her brood: Hot, Tot, Jin, Jod, Fie, Fly, Zan, Zod, Pik, Snik, Lun, Lod And the dreaded Ichabod. Each child holds a slimy toad. On each toad squirm two fat grubs. On each grub ride two fleas brave. How many living in Thaegan’s cave?” (Answered 105) The man’s strange eyes seemed to flash. “You have not answered well,” he said. His hand shoots out and grabs josh’s arm with a grip of iron. (he said that no, his math was correct) “yes,” said the man. “But you have forgotten Thaegan’s favorite food. A raven, swallowed alive. It was in the cave also, alive in her belly. The answer is 106. The question was fair.” He lifted his curved sword. “You have not answered well, prepare to die.” (PI) (he said it wasn’t a fair question) and the party tried to attack. “now you try to cheat? i have been fair with you all and you try to kill me for playing my game? you came to me, and now you try to kill me!?” “My suffering was not justly earned” spat the man. “It was for pure spite that Thaegan took my freedom and cursed me to this piece of earth. If you are so interested in truth and lies, fair and unfair, we will play another game. We will play a game to decide which way you will die. You may say one thing and one thing only. If what you say is true, I will strangle you with my bare hands. If what you say is false, I will cut off your head.” (answered “My head will be cut off”) The man’s flesh started to ripple, to melt- changing shape. Brown feathers were sprouting from his skin. His legs were shrinking and his feet were spreading, becoming talons. His powerful arms and shoulders were dissolving and re-forming themselves into great wings. His curved sword was becoming a fierce, hooked beak. And in moments the man was gone, and a huge, proud bird with golden eyes stood on the cliff in his place. With a triumphant cry it spread its wings and soared into the air, joining other birds swooping and gliding on the wind. The memory of what he had said earlier came to mind. “It is my doom to guard this bridge until truth and lies are one.” As you start across the bridge, you hear a noise, as you glance behind you, to your horror you see the bridge start to crumble. You start to run as fast as you possibly can, but about half way across, the planks start giving out under you. You catch on to the rope, but moments later feel the jolt of the ropes coming loose from the cliff-face behind you. Panic and fear set in as you realize the speed at which you will collide with the quickly approaching pink rock. You close your eyes as you prepare for your bones to shatter, when with a rushing movement, something huge swooped under you, and lifted you up, up with each beat of its mighty wings. As it lands you in front of your companions, you tumble off onto the dust of solid ground. You sit up and meet the gaze of two large golden eyes. If it wasn’t for you. this creature would still be the earthbound guardian of the bridge. “You gave me back my life,” the eyes seemed to say. “Now i have returned yours, my debt is paid.” Before you can speak, the bird nods once, spread its wings and soared away.

As you continue down the road you notice an overturned wagon on the side of the road with several dead bodies, rotted skeletons scattered about. Non combat encounter Stealth check- you creep stealthily down the tree into the clearing. Stealth check- you creep across the clearing and reach the dwarf The dwarf looks up with a start as you approach. Instinctively, he knows not to make a sound. When you reach him, he draws a sign in the dirt with his finger, and looks intently into each of your eyes. Despite your bewildered looks, he seems to trust you, or perhaps he realizes that no situation is worse than the one he is presently in. The chains are not tied to anything, but are long and heavy but make a lot of sound. He points at your cloak indicating that you wrap the chains in it to muffle the clinking. You successfully free the man from the camp, and all would have been well if a goblin, flinging his arm in his sleep, hadn’t whacked a fellow sleeping next to him in the face. The guard roared in anger, sat up and spotted you guys hurrying away down the path. He yelled out in alarm and a hundred angry guards awoke to find their prisoner missing. As you now charge down the path, full speed, fear lending your feet wings, you thank whoever had built this road for building it very bendy, as this prevented line of sight, at which point arrows were soon to ensue. You round a corner and to your horror you see that the road ahead has absolutely no curves. Straight as an arrow. The goblins could not have asked for a clearer shot. (PI) They decided to run off into the woods, but not before carole threw a bag of glass on the path, which ended up slowing down the enemy. As you charge off into the trees and bushes you hear the goblins starting to round the last corner before the straight away. As you fly through tree limbs and burst through small clearings, you hear a massive roar of rage from the place where the straightaway was. Big, towering bushes, ripe with fat fruit and berries started to become more and more frequent as you scrambled through the forest. You realize that with so many bushes, it completely masks your scent, and that the quarter moon, coupled with thick tree limbs, prevents them from seeing your tracks in the low light. The sound of their rage at losing their prisoner drifted away in the night as they searched in the opposite direction. The dwarf had fallen unconscious as soon as you stopped to listen for the fading sounds of the enemy, all the excitement having drained away what energy he had left. You notice as you observe the clearing that there is giant fruit and delicious looking edible berries hanging on bushes.(PI)(Roll arcana DC 8. you notice that the berries have some kind of magical properties)You all ate them hahaha!!!!(you don’t notice any changes right away) (One of them notices) As you are picking berries, you notice a bush a little further away with exceptionally larger, more ripe berries. As you approach, you stumble upon a wooden board that moss had grown partially over. It has some sort of writing on it under the moss. (after they wipe it off) it says “ring and enter”. You look up and notice a metal bell, hanging from a tree branch. Directly ahead lay a strip of smooth, bright green lawn, and in the distance, what looked like a white human house, tucked away and protected from the horrors of the world by the forest. Light smoke came from the chimney. You show the board to group, “ring and enter”. As you ring the bell, it rings, letting out a cheery, welcoming sound. You have only taken a few steps before you realized that something is terribly wrong. Desperately, you try to turn back, but its too late. Already you are sinking- to your knees… your thighs… your waists… Beneath the green-covered surface of what you thought was a fine lawn, is quicksand. As you shout out, and do what you can to stay afloat, you here a shout, and you see two plump, grey haired figures hurrying from the little white cottage, carrying a long pole between them. Help is coming. But by the time they will arrive it might be too late… (PI) You notice that you still have the long wooden board of the sign clutched in your hand. As you balance the wood between yourselves, you hope that you can hold out until the two old people arrive. You hear them reach the edge of the quick sand, and you can’t understand their words, because they were speaking in a strange tongue. But their voices were urgent, it was clear that they were trying to help. “Taem hserf!’ the man was panting. “Knis ti tel ton od!” the woman exclaimed in answer. “tou ti get!” Each of you, one at a time caught the long pole and were lifted out of the quicksand. There was a sucking sound as the swamps grasp on u lifted. The two old people gasped, as they lay panting and laughing on the ground, relieved from the effort of pulling all of you out. They started to pick themselves up after a moment, chattering excitedly to one another. “Efas era yeht!” cried the old woman. “Egamad on!” her companion agreed. They came over and said more nonsense, but looked at each of you apologetically, as if asking for your understanding about their homes’ defenses. They pointed to a broken sign picketed near the edge of the quicksand and laughed. It was a half that fit perfectly with the side of the one you were holding, and when combined it says. “Warning! Ring of quicksand do not enter. You then see that the entire house is surrounded by the ring of deceptive looking lawn. The old man and woman smiled and beckoned to their home. Thoughts of a warm bed and hot food fill your mind as you remember better times. As you enter and sit on a very comfortable sofa, the woman bowed and pointed to herself, “Nij” she said and tapped the old man on his chest “Doj”. His warm smile and unruly mass of grey hair reminded you of an elderly figure that you loved back home. They asked a couple of gibberish words and pointed at your stomachs questioningly and motioned eating. (PI) (roll perception [DC 30 to roll out]) As they went into the kitchen to gather food and drinks, they sang merrily “Noos taem hserf! Noos taem hserf!”. You notice a hand knit quilt hanging above the lovely red brick fire place. It reads, “Live no evil”. Doj came back in, setting down the tray with drinks and a plate of small cakes. He smiled pleasantly and beckoned at the tray as he sat down in a rocking chair.(PI) Nij entered the room and pointed at some rooms down the hallway, motioning sleeping with her hands questioningly. As you all sit comfortably on the sofa, Doj starts to motion with his hand toward your weapons and travel gear questioningly, and spills his hot drink all over himself. He gets up, and sucks in a sharp breath at the pain and beckons to something next to one end of the couch hurriedly. Nij, rolling her eyes, gets up and quickly moves over to grab a towel off the floor next to the opposite side of the couch then he pointed out. Making an annoyed sound, he moves over to grab the a towel on the side he pointed at, and with one motion, the lift wooden handles on both sides of the couch, and flip it over backwards, sending you head first down a stone chute. (cody, carole, and jarrett) As you walk across the room you observe the furnishings, you just see a couple beds, a desk, all pushed up along the farthest wall, and a large fluffy comfortable rug that takes up a good portion of the floor in the small room. You imagine how good it will feel to run your tosies through its soft cottony surface after weeks of rough journey. As you step forward to set your packs near the beds, Nij (or doj for the others’ room) yanks upward on a metal lever that you hadn’t noticed hidden behind the door, and you plunge downward as the floor splits in half suddenly, into a steeply-angled, funnel-shaped, stone slide. You hear another crank of the lever as you go down the chute and see the flooring closing back up over you, and hear the evil laughter of Nij and Doj. (John and Josh)

As you lay all together on a slick, moss covered stone floor.

Encounter Foul-Spawn Hatchlings (door way) When you enter through the door, you see heaping mounds of bones scattered about the room. You see two doors leading left and right at the other side of the room. (PI) As you enter the room, you see large pulsing eggs everywhere. They decided to smash all the eggs in each room. You are stuck in the underground layer for two long days, or so you think, as you can’t tell for sure. As you ponder the betrayal by Nij and Doj, the spell of the cursed fruit lifts, and you realize that everything, including their names are backwards. Their names aren’t Nij and Doj, but actually Jin and Jod, two of the evil sorceress Thaegan’s children. Phrases that they said comes back to you and fill you with horror. When you first saw them, as you were stuck in the quicksand, they had said,“Taem hserf!’ and “Knis ti tel ton od!” “tou ti get!” “Efas era yeht!” “Egamad on!” translated to fresh meat! and do not let it sink! get it out! they are safe! no damage. And while they sang and prepared the drinks and cakes, they sang merrily “Noos taem hserf! Noos taem hserf!” which was actually “fresh meat soon! Fresh meat soon! and the hand knit quilt instead of saying Live no Evil, actually said Live on evil. After what seems an eternity. You hear a loud noise coming from one of the other rooms. Then, horrific dual howls of rage. Two figures charge into the room, and you see the true forms of the sweet old man and woman transformed into two hideous looking monsters. Encounter!!! Jin and Jod, two of Thaegan’s children. They found the rope ladder leading back into the house. stolen gnome potion chest is found after searching the house.

Session two

The boat has been sailing for several days now, and everyones’ frustration is directed at cody, for the continued belligerent request for payment in sand crabs. The sun is high over head, and the heat, blistering. At long last though, the mainland is rapidly approaching, and the tall ominous form of the magicians keep looms over the surrounding forest. “that’s odd” said York. “the map doesn’t say there is a forest around the keep..” One of the soldiers called out “can’t expect the dead to do our gardening for us!” “I don’t see anyone on the beach, but they could just be shrouded in the cover of the trees..” Several hours later the boat finally hits the shore, along with about five other boats full of men. As men pour out onto the land a deep horn sounds that vibrates your entire body. Several answering horns sound and fear sinks deep into your bodies. The sound of drums and howling fill the forest. Boom. Boom. Boom. And suddenly, by the hundreds, creatures, armed to the teeth with wicked looking armor and weapons spill forth out of concealment and charge you and your men.

Skill Challenge! I’m pretty sure everyone passed this… Josh was playing two characters and it was in this session he decided to be the runepriest instead of the shardmind. After the attack you look around and see that only about 80 men are left. Commander York stood over an enemy with his mace implanted in its skull. “I think he could use a tetanus shot” he laughed heartily. “I was always bad at jokes” “We control the beach!” he roared. Men cheered. Some men stood over dead friends and said nothing. “Lets try to make it to the Keep before it gets 2 dark 2 travel.” He said as men started falling into formation according to their original groups. York walked over to you guys. Where is the rest of your group?” he took a look around. “scattered across the battlefield I suppose…” He started out into the forest, expecting you guys to follow. The forest looked relatively new. The trees were of average size, and the forest floor was littered with the green leaves. “it’s pretty close now.” York said as he climbed down from a tall thick tree while you guys took a short respite. “Just a couple miles North of here. Now, when we get there, we need to take control of the main gate as quickly as possible. Just make sure it keeps open until everyone is through. We need to clear the keep of all of the enemy forces, Roark says that it is imperative to hold the keep until the main force arrives. Worst comes to worst, your orders are to pursue the quest to reclaim the stones. HA! why would I give u these orders! Its not like you’ll live that long! ...Its not like any of us will live that long…” He stared off distantly. “did u hear that?” he asked. Suddenly alarm came over him. “Get down!!!” As commander York dove for cover he hit his head on a rock and was rendered unconscious.

ENCOUNTER!!!!!!!!!! Goblins “What… What happened?” asked commander York as he rose unsteadily to his feat. “Sounds like a fun little fight. Well, breaks up! Lets go!” He grabs his pack and starts to head north. “We’re here.” whispered York. “Watch out for archers on the wall. Stay low and go!” He took off running toward the main gate. As you hurry to reach the edge of the forest, the trees start to become fewer and farther apart, you see the massive walls of the keep, and see signs in the dirt that this used to be the main road into the keep. Large wooden doors stood open, letting in the wilderness. “Fancy a pop in the keep there chum?” Sounded a small voice from behind you. “Sorry can’t let you do that. Orders from the boss sir, you understand right?” sounded another voice, from behind the group yet again. “Mehehehe” it laughed as it came from the other direction again. suddenly two Evil looking guards rose from the gound.

2 gnome arcanists “NO!!! ME LUCKY LOOOOOOT!!!!” cried the last gnome. (to die) A heavy wooden chest materialized next to him as he lay dying, stroking the only thing he ever cared about. “I tried so hard…. Ive failed you…. ughh….” (when box is opened) A bright light shines out, blinding you for an instant. When you look back, you discover… roll d6 York came barreling into the clearing. “What is going on! Hurry up the others are almost here! We’re first! We won! haha!.... Suddenly an arrow zipped out and pierced Commander York through the chest. “Go! Now!” he yelled as he crumpled to the ground. The howl of hundreds of enemy battle cries sounded not a hundred yards away. Men appeared in front of the gate. “Come help us close the gate!” they called out. As you enter the inside of the walls the men point to a wheel that needs to be turned to close the gates. “Hurry!” They cried. As the wheel turned, the gates started to close, but enemies started pouring in through the opening, fighting men guarding the entrance. As the doors closed several goblins were cut in half from the pressure, and the men finished off the remaining enemies that had made it through. As you look around, you notice that you are in a vast garden area, that leads to several entrances up into the Keep. A man, presumably in charge, was shouting out orders for men to secure this or that passage, and to clear the area. “You soldiers! Take the north west entrance and clear the sector! I want anything that didn’t come with us on our boats dead! You hurry through noiseless grand passage ways, and through great halls and studies. It started quiet at first, quieter than a whisper, but as you continued through the seemingly ever expanding Keep, a silent laughter bounced off the walls and ceiling. Growing and growing in intensity, but going down in pitch. You press on, the laughter growing so loud that you can’t hear each other yell, so low that it vibrates your entire body. And as you run, frantic down the next hallway, the sound stops, and a tall, heavily armored creature stood, stood so still it seemed frozen, down at the end of the long hallway. Suddenly, without warning, it took off, running in the opposite direction. Whether by mistake, or on purpose, the sound of its heavy footsteps could be heard crashing down each corridor it raced through, until the sound stopped, and you guys reach a very large door frame. The room inside is completely visible, but also completely empty, except for a large book case in the center of the farthest wall. There is a faded sign above the door that says something about healing. As you enter the room, magical ecstasy fills your body, and you feel fully revitalized. (The book case is shimmering, and you can easily pass through it.) As you enter, you notice a bunch of floating platforms, and a steep drop off. The strange armored creature, taking flying prodigious leaps of 30 to 40 feet across the platforms, both vertically and horizontally, as well as running, inverted, on the platforms. Encounter!!! hobgoblins. As you search the Hobgoblin Commanders body you notice a shimmering silver belt that is very wide and thick. It almost looks like there is slots in it… seven slots…

You meet back up with the man who was the commander as he shouts orders to the men… He hands you a map of the keep. “i was looking at this map that we found in one of the ancient libraries, and it would seem there is a secret tunnel leading out of the keep, mmmm, here. He pointed at a spot on the map. The enemy is breaking through the door, there is too many, you must hurry out while we distract them and get to safety! This item is the root of our cause it is of utmost importance! please hurry!”

Welcome to your Adventure Log!
A blog for your campaign

Every campaign gets an Adventure Log, a blog for your adventures!

While the wiki is great for organizing your campaign world, it’s not the best way to chronicle your adventures. For that purpose, you need a blog!

The Adventure Log will allow you to chronologically order the happenings of your campaign. It serves as the record of what has passed. After each gaming session, come to the Adventure Log and write up what happened. In time, it will grow into a great story!

Best of all, each Adventure Log post is also a wiki page! You can link back and forth with your wiki, characters, and so forth as you wish.

One final tip: Before you jump in and try to write up the entire history for your campaign, take a deep breath. Rather than spending days writing and getting exhausted, I would suggest writing a quick “Story So Far” with only a summary. Then, get back to gaming! Grow your Adventure Log over time, rather than all at once.

Session one

Quest 1: Save the Town! You all are standing in a line at the Valhin center of commerce. You do not know each other, but are standing in line together waiting to enlist for Roarks army. The sun is close to setting and you are no where near the front. (they introduce themselves to each other. small talk) As night descends upon Valhin, and you reach close to the front of the line, you notice the stars winking out, and back in rapidly all across the sky. Individuals point it out to their companions, and people stare out in amazement as the sky, and strangely the moon wink out for seconds at a time. Suddenly cries of women and children pierce the night as winged beasts crash to the ground, tearing them limb from limb. The sky lights up as fire beasts ignite themselves and spew roiling balls of flames down across the capital city. To your left several of the winged creatures land and tear a guard to shreds. The enlisting soldiers in line with you all bolt in the opposite direction. what do u do? After slaughtering the Shadowhunter bats, you notice a man beckoning you into the center of commerce building. The man lets down multiple heavy bolts to lock the door, and starts to chain the handles together when the sound of glass being shattered sounds from the upper floor, and creatures of the night stream in. The man starts to hurriedly unwrap the chains from the door and hurries out into the night. During this battle, Jarrett tried blocking a psuedodragon in a room with a potted plant, at which point it simply flew out a window and re-entered the building through another window lol. He then decided that he wanted to try to jump off the second story, land on the top of a statue, and crawl down. With 3 Hp. As usual with Jarrett, he failed his roll and died on the ground. While this was going on josh decided to lock himself in a room with an enemy by using a table that he floated to block the door way. With 5 Hp left he realized that it wasn’t the smartest idea and moved the table to escape. He then tried floating Jarrett off the bottom floor up to him, but halfway there Jarrett’s almost dead body was accosted by a giant bat which started gnawing on him lol. They eventually killed the monsters and josh took his floating table with him. (rolly eyes) (After the Fight) As you exit the building, you find the remains of the man who had fled from the building. Guards shout at you to hurry! and to follow them! As you run through the dark street you see that you are approaching the political residential areas where politicians stay the night at lavish hotels when they are in the capital, on business. All of the hotels are on fire and surrounded by men finishing off monsters and other men throwing water on the buildings, while other men dart in and out trying to save people. Please! One of the men shout, help get people out of there! I think everyone passed on this noncombat encounter except josh, who used his floaty table to skip a bunch of the other checks and go straight upward to a window lol. he then floated the politician down safely, but then his wooden table fell on the man and erupted into flames, killing him. Shouldn’t of brought the table lol ;)

If success- Thank you, brave sir, what would be your name? and yours? I shall remember it, I will tell my superiors about your heroism.

If failure- Why are you empty handed? You have failed who ever was in there, damn your cowardice. They are dead, do you understand that? Dead… gone… (shakes head) I hope you remember this moment for the rest of your life and carry it with you to the grave. Do you see these heroes? Try sticking around with them and maybe you’ll learn something. (guard walks off) You overhear guards talking, saying that the creatures fled after taking severe casualties. A guard walks over, “why don’t men stay in the center of commerce for tonight? It will be well protected, and i don’t think it wise to travel to your kingdoms while it is still dark, there might be more of those cursed beasts out there.” he takes a weary look around. “lets hope not cuz its way past my bed time. He grinned knowingly, “should be in bed with the miss’s right now!” he winked and started to Shepard the group toward the center of commerce. In the morning, u all awake to the sound of a gruff deep voice sounding as a big dragon born warrior strode into the room. “I see you are up. My men told me of your deeds last night, very impressive. You were here to enlist correct? Good! your in, the first boat leaves in a three hours from the dwarven port. Make your way there, and i will personally see you off, along with several other of the first boats to leave. Of course, when you report there, you will be assigned a commander, who will immediately take charge of you. Mind him and you just might survive….. HAHA just kidding of course you’ll come back to us. In one piece.” Smiling, Roark, turned and left the room. After you make it to the dwarven port, you are immediately identified by your descriptions, which were sent ahead of you on a roster, and assigned to commander York. York was a tall man that resembled a viking, horned helmet, blonde hair, and bulging muscles. He walked over “I am commander York. I’m not big on pleasantries, so um… Get in the boat, its time.” Cody then demanded sand crabs as payment for his deeds the night before. when told he would recieve no such thing, he annoyed everyone on the boat for the next few weeks for them. lol. As you get in the boat, you see other boats launching off, toward the distant shores of the magicians keep. You wonder about what kind of magical wonders and thrilling enemies await you as your own boat launches from the shore of the only place on this planet that you have ever been.
